description: A black-and-white photograph of the Quimby House, originally the Colby House, first dwelling built by Joseph Colby in New London. It was located on Seaman's Rd.; was built in 1788. The Colby family moved to the Main Street Homestead about 1800. The Quimby family lived here from 1890-1900, and the house burned in 1918. The house has a center chimney and full sized barn. The surrounding fields are divided by signature New England stone walls. There is also an original cyanotype of this view in the collection. Based on this, the picture has been dated approximately 1845.
