Busy day-mostly at Timmy’s-up about 9:00-Peter went to bank + deposited $45 more to our saving acct. We now have about $265 therein-whee. Cashed a check + bought some cleaning materials. Nice letter from Mother who’d gotten + loved the skirt from Rick’s I called Mary + had brief chat with Millie + got her address + phone number then spoke with Mary-dreary talk. I said that Peter had been quiet upset by Allen’s call + she said “well we were very upset.” I hope they find the sweater + shirt in the boy’s room. Or else right there under their noses. I was furious. She was on her way to court with David so we didn’t talk longer. Spoke with Richard who said he might come down later + then we took off for Timmy’s. Spent first hours down there cleaning the ice box + the stove-no mean feat either one. Peter mended the hole in the ceiling. Then we started painting. Very streaky despite our best efforts + we had to give the whole thing a second coat. Ugh. Took time out to go to Ah Fongs for Chinese dinner. Chris came in in the afternoon + splashed a little paint around. Richard never showed but called twice. Was with Bill who walked out yesterday on the show he was directing. Dick didn’t get the part at Stage Society after what amounted to an assurance that he had it. The news from N.B.C. was very good-Everybody loved us. Only trouble is it’s all for future reference + nothing now. Peter Faith called in the A.M. and I’m having lunch with him on Weds. We left Timmys at 11:30 with stove + refrig. all clean + hooked back up and the kitchen a bright + glowing yellow-worst of it is however I think we’ll have to give the ceiling in the living room a second coat Came home picked up a bottle and played cards for a while + had two drinks. Peter had very funny letter (and nice) from Ruth Green.
