Spoke with Johnny Coen who goes into the service in July + refused dinner invitations from Tom Middleton + the Sapinskleys.
Day [crossed out writing] began with a call from Isabell-had tickets for Peter + me to see her show on Tuesday next week but we had to say no as Peter may not be back from New York. Only a brief chat as she was on her way to work. I called G.A.C. in the morning and made appt with Bob Levine at 4:30-spoke with Peter Faith + asked him about an appt at Stage Society for “the rehearsal.” Said he’d do what he could-also when I said why don’t you go into personal management + manage Peter + me he said he’d been thinking of it (P.M. not us though!) Peter + I played about 20 minutes of tennis-it was 93 [degrees] + we just couldn’t play anymore. Peter went to unemployment + the bank. I called Florida Friebus + asked if I could do something to help Eddy Weston’s campaign. She said they were having a meeting at her house tonight + I could come. I told her I was rehearsing an audition but would try + she said they were going to go over lists of people to phone etc. I wrote a note to G.A.C. in New York with my California address as I haven’t received any money from Muller, Jordan + Herrick yet and I wrote notes about Eddy Weston to Scotty + Annie. Peter came back with wrappers from the bank and we wrapped up our money-$156.50 not counting quarters. We’ve decided to start a savings account in my name. Also we owe ourselves about $40 for the money taken out for our collections. I washed my hair + started a note to Jane Moran. Had been expecting Dick to call about 3:30 + suddenly realized it was four o’clock. I got frantic + flung myself together Peter drove me to G.A.C. I had to wait to see Bob Levine. Saw Peter Faith who called the stage society + was told I was too young for two parts + [crossed out writing] too old for the other. My meeting with Bob Levine was a bit nothing-ish. I don’t think he was very impressed and it wasn’t until he asked about accents + I spoke French that we had any communication at all. He speaks fluent French himself + studied 2 years at the Sorbonne. So then we had something to talk about but it doesn’t put money in the bank. I left quite depressed + very tired. Peter’s been working on his movie script all day-typing in the kitchen a mile a minute. My problem is that I personally am paralysed (creatively or even just from thinking) by the sound of a typewriter that close. We came home called Richard + then called Florida to say I couldn’t make it. However read her a list of about 36 names + said I would contact those pople by phone. Had a sort of crise de nerfs-went sulking to the bedroom. Peter asked if he’d driven me away, I said yes so he moved his typewriter to the desk in the bedroom + I came out here. Finished note to Jane + wrote Mother + Daddy, Mary Jean + John then started looking for a poem for our film. Peter emerged later + we read our Hetty Green book until almost one.

Did something happen to the transcription on this date (april 14th)? I could not bring it up on my computer. I am enjoying reading these daily entries and appreciate it is a lot of work for whoever is performing the transcribing. Thanks.
