Nathalie Bliet - Secty at Dupont.

Up at 6:30. Peter off to work at 7:30. I cleaned up the house a little and then finished “shoes of the Fisherman.” The morning mail brought a copy of the standard publisher-author contract used by the Society of Authors representative. With it the letter James Brown sent to Hans Rosenwald saying that David Kallman was dissolving Patch Pockets. Jim had also put in a request for some payment for Lisa + asked the dates of Atlantis’ payments (royalties !!!!!) hah. Hadn’t told Jim the latest from David Kallman so called them both got Jim first who said to wait + see what happened + that the contract would be proof I didn’t plan to take the book away. Finally got David Kallman who said all was not lost. Called Drue + told her I’d come up for my black + white pictures after my Dupont appointment. Washed hair + was out on street corner looking for cab just as Peter came home - Work finished. They’re not going to use this commercial - they’re making it surely for test purposes! Good lord - his net profit will be $90 and he’ll have spent that just by being here. However his way was paid here + back so that’s fair enough I guess. Finally got cab. 53th St looked at script. Only woman’s part in it. Secretary. Oh well - very nothing. Saw Diana Van der [Vlis]. nice chat. Interviewed with Phil Barry Jr. bearded + a little pompoid + Franklin Schaffner whom I like. Suddenly realized I was wearing exact same item I’d worn when I read for “Advise + Consent” 3 years ago! The old reliable chump said. After reading (neither bad nor good) talked with Diana again. Showed book around + then ran into James Earl Jones. Showed him book too. Old Home week . Went up to Staimpfli’s + got pictures - very cute + made date with Drue + Dick Jennings for dinner at Pete’s. Came home + called G.A.C. - told them I planned to go to New Hampshire on Saturday. Cashed a check + ordered a bottle of Early Times. Drue came at six o’clock + she + Peter + I went to Pete’s to meet Dick at 6:15. Snowy-rain. Dick late - + we’d all had several drinks. As had cold. Nice dinner + back to apartment to see Dick Van Dyke show with Peter in it. Fun although Peter kept saying “wait til you see this, etc.” Marty McK. called to ask me for dinner with her family Sat. night! Said I couldn’t. Had near fight with Drue about being “bossy.” (Me, that is.) Trouble is that Drue enjoys a good fight + I don’t - I always feel worse after. Scotty came. Dick Jennings feeling very sick. Peter gave him pill + then Peter + I went upstairs so Dick could stay over. Scotty told tarot cards but I would have no part of it as future at this moment seems shaky - Everything undecided.
