Was up at 9-got my 12 hours!-Coffee-metrecal etc. Diary. Pottered about a bit. Sewed on Peter’s sweater-shoulder + side seams + cast on neck. Called Hank Coleman-called Charles + [crossed out writing] told him we wanted to come back to class-tried to explain a little. Peter went to unemployment. I called Mother-had a good talk-they’re not leaving for a while now-til after the 19th anyway. Hank Coleman called + we’re having lunch on Tuesday. I’m looking forward to it. Called + made a hair appt. for tomorrow. Sent my book to Ted Post with a note-it cost $1.10!! I’d put 40 [cents] on it + thought it was plenty. Peter came back with some glassene stamp envelopes, a new bone for Jiggs and my mail-a gay little postcard from Liza who I’ve been scared to write (she’s a bigger soul than I) and my letter of last week to Harold returned for wrong address!! Good Lord. What a sterling correspondent I’m turning out to be. I sent birthday cards to Druscilla + Mary Jean and wrote a note to Harold + sent out his letter again. I wrote Fred Berry + said I’d be glad to have dinner with him on the 26th and sent 2 plate blocks to Mary. Peter went out + got some 1 1/2 [cent] stamps (Hard to get) + a sheet of 1 1/4. made up 10 little envelopes of regular issue stamps face value $1.773 apiece. In ten years or so they’ll make nice gifts. Made up 4 or 5 envelopes of blocks (8 per envelope) of 1/2, 1 1/4, 1 1/2, 2 1/2 + 4 1/2. We went to dinner at Timmy’s about 7:30-stopping at Cleaners to leave off two suits of Peters. Got a bottle of Vodka + one of bourbon at Shermart. New puzzle at Timmy’s + I found myself glued to it. Easier not eating. Although I did have some brussells + carrotts [carrots] without butter. Timmy gave us copies of Sid’s play. Came back to Burlington + read it. I thought it would be fun to read. Peter concerned about the merit or validity of the material. Great argument. I don’t feel that’s our concern as actors. We said we’d do it + now we should do it. Peter concerned about “sticking his neck out” in front of “all those writers”-Hell-there’s nothing in the world to lose. But after fighting I found I couldn’t read it with him and that becomes my problem. Oh Lord-we’re in such a horrible mess-
