Metrecal.
Up at 9:30-weighed + decided to go on all metrecal diet for a couple of weeks-nothing else. Weighted 132-Got a call from Barbara Westerland at 20th for costume fitting tomorrow-”Spring in New England-the cameraman doesn’t like to shoot pink, yellow or beige”-Oh dear-Don’t have anything very suitable-Peter called-the place was perfect-He took Jenny over around 11 + then at two drove her out to see about a job. I paid Gladys the rent + she brought some men in to look at a recent but nearly invisible leak in the bedroom. got a dear letter from Mother-they may leave on the 10th for their trip south. Also a rather sad note from Ida who’s still out at Alvin’s. They’re having a rough winter. Jimmy’s letter to his constituents. Called Izzy to explain about Jenny + the change of plans-Went to the Food Giant cashed a check + bought some metrecal + gasoline. Stopped at Burlington + Ruth Green called for Jenny-direct dialing. I said it was a wrong number + hung up. The phone rang twice again in a half hour + I didn’t answer was very unhappy over the whole business-Drove out to Filmways-Didn’t have a quarter for the parking lot and a very nice girl name June Dayton gave me on. We sat later + chatted upstairs with another actress I’d seen there last time-Adrienne Moore. Funny time + finally Adrienne got the job which was nice if it couldn’t be me. (They made us sit around + wait for their decision) Saw Don Gerler at Contemporary Artists + had rather vapid chat. He wants film + I said I’d get the Day in Court thing for him. Had message (at Contemp. A.) to call 20th-script confirmation + then to call Timmy Brooke-went to Schwab’s + called. He wanted us for dinner. I told him about metrecal + Jenny. Tried to get Peter for half an hour-line busy. Went to Shermart to buy pork chops + metrecal-met Peter at Timmy’s-Jenny didn’t come. Dinner smelled good but I had none. Worked on puzzle later-I was disgruntled over the new status of things-(actually having to re-examine the [crossed out writing] status quo is what I mean) Home at midnight-
