Up reasonably early-9:30 or so-Pottered about. Called Peter Faith-asked him about Contemporary Artists. Called CA-spoke with Don Gerler who told me to send pix + resumes + we’d arrange an interview next week. Invited Peter Faith to dinner on Thursday. Called Dick de Roy who’d spoken with Julian Olhick who wasn’t interested but would see me. Said taking clients from smaller agencies was difficult as one couldn’t their [?] money for them. Hmm. Interesting. Called around to various coin dealers for prices on gem set of Franklin Halves. Robinsons-$235.00-Superior $185-others in between. Called Lichtmans who turned out to be wholesalers but got a nice guy who recommended Superior or Coinarama ($189.00) + told me that Robinsons were notorious for their prices-went to Price St.-got pix + resumes-mail. Check for $90 from MOther-wow they’d planned to spend $100 on a fire screen + she was sending me that minus the $10 for shipping. We went to Hillhurst + saw Phil. His cousin works at Superior + he called them-Had to wait a bit. A nice little lady ran into Peter’s car in the Parking lot-large dent-oh dear. Names + addresses + phone no. exchanged. We went to bank-deposited $21.50 in savings + $90 plus $200 from N.Y. acct in checking acct. Cashed check for $50.00. Back to Hillhurst-Phil arranged to get set from me at $185 minus tax plus plastic holders etc thrown in. Gave him a check. He said to come in next Wednesday. We stopped by Las Feliz P.O. got new Sokol stamp + picked up my 20 copies of Lion from the Sleepy Hollow Bookshop which had already come back to Burlington. Sent pix + resume to Contemporary Artists. Called Timmy + Alvin + Elizabeth-Invited them to dinner Tuesday-Eliz told tale of his English Bull named Humphrey. Very sad. We went to Don the Beachcombers at 6:30 arrived at 7 instantly followed by Felice + Timmy. Immediately sitting. Delicious dinner-do like Felice. Timmy a bit withdrawn. Always talking to Peter + leaving Felice + me to ourselves-Not as gay as it should have been. Dinner-$26.00 but $10 was Felice’s for the drinks. We went to see “That Man From Rio” after-a little long but thoroughly enjoyed it. The main feature was “Girl with the Green Eyes” which we’d all wanted to see but we were too tired to stay for it-nice evening home by midnight-Played with Jiggs. Sailing date with Mary + Allen at 9:30-Sunday.
