(cont.) funny + appealing English boy-Bernard Davis-who drove the cab. Had come here to act but was giving it up. We had a drink at the Bowling Alley + I asked him to wait til Peter came home as I thought they’d like each other but he had a late bridge game (1:30am!) to go to! Gave him the number + said to call us but I doubt he shall. Just as well however he didn’t stay as Peter didn’t come back. Called Timmy + he’d left…I went to bed at two. At 4:30 Peter came in + pounded on his guitar in my ear-was furious + yelling “you always want me to play the guitar-well listen”-I called him a drunk + tried to go back to sleep but had trouble. Heard him trying to call Paul Glidewell in Rome (Thank God he couldn’t locate him) + then several old Solebrery [?] friends in the East. About six am things settled down. [end of entry]
I got up about 9:30-fed Jiggs + let him out. Cleaned up the kitchen a little-played solitaire + thought over events of the preceding eve. Began to seem a little funny. Peter however when I took him coffee at noon was deathly ill. got him some bromoseltzer. Finally decided he just couldn’t make it to Mandeville + called to say he was sick. I went out about two with Valentines, Picture of Mr. Ed for Margie, our coin collection + my nightgown for Elizabeth to fix. Stopped at the Food Giant + bought alot of gadgets for Peter’s Valentine. Stopped at Price St for the coins + tried to call Timmy-not in. Got to Mandeville about 3:45. spent the whole afternoon with James-Gave him 20 indianheads all duplicates for him-He gave me a Barber nickel 1911-his only duplicate. He was very nice about our collection + very happy to get the indianheads-I had a good time. Mary made a delicious dinner-steak + baked potatos, salad, succotash, rolls + parfaits. The Valentines alot of fun. Didn’t really get much of a visit with Mary but saw alot of the children. Took Elizabeth home about 9:20-Sat + had a cup of coffee with her + wrapped Peter’s present. Had a lovely decoration for the Bev. Hills Club to put on too. Came home Sta Monica Freeway-Peter had been vacuuming living room-Had flowers, perfume + candy for me. He liked his presents. We had a drink + played Poker + went to bed about 1 am. All quiet on the Western Front. And so it goes I guess [crossed out writing]
