A lovely very lazy Sunday-Sunny out-I called Jack Donaldson to say I thought things had gone well at the Stage Society + he promised to keep in touch with them. He hadn’t liked “the Devils Advocate” thought the play was very confusing (?). I caught up on my diary. Looked over last year’s valentine list. Took all my papers etc. up to my “offices.” Called Mary but got Allen. He said Mary’s new teeth look alot better. Asked Peter + me to go sailing with them sometime. Tentatively set for a weekend after next. Spoke with Mary later who asked me out for supper on [crossed out writing] Tuesday before the Campfire meeting. Good God that meant 5:30. Just can’t face the thought of Spaghetti at teatime. Nice chat otherwise. Peter tried to fix my windshield wipers but no luck-the motor has to be replaced. We lay around the living room and read-Peter not feeling too well. I read “Background to Danger” by Eric Ambler written way back in ‘35 or so. Fascinating reading. Around 7:30 we roused ourselves into fixing dinner-chicken pot pies, kale, sprouts + leeks. After we played rook until almost one o’clock. Peter won two out of three times. The first time by so much I went crazy (poor loser I) and the third time by quite a bit too. He was so pleased.
