[continued from February 5th] (cont.) especially with Bill. She gave us a new webbed belt which is much more comfortable + showed me how to use it. Also showed Peter better how to work the facial pad. They left about 2 am + then I read “The Collections” by Pinter. Strange play. A sort of Pirandello-Rashomon-type thing. Got message at 10:47 to come in for a reading Saturday at 11:00-11:30am. A number to call if I couldn’t but I got the message too late. Bed about 3am.

[New entry starts here] Up at 8:30-let Jiggs out. Made coffee and re-read “the Collection.” Felt too tired to read properly so at 10 o’clock called the Stage Society + said I had a Dr’s appt. at noon + couldn’t come until after 2 pm. Went back to bed for about 2 hours. Message from Steve Brown. Called back + said I hadn’t seen the Dr. yet blah blah. Had a message from him at 2:30. Returned it at 3 o’clock-said I’d just come home. Ended up with appt at 4:30. Couldn’t refuse-washed hair + bathed. Timmy called + asked us to dinner. Peter drove me to Stage Society. Ed Balin whom I’d met + liked at Florida’s party for Ed Weston but didn’t remember (oh dear) is the director. I had a long talk with Steve Brown. I do like him. They’re doing a double bill of “the Dumb Waiter” + “the [crossed out writing] Collection” + they’re doubling the men. John Harding playing Harry in the Collection so Peter I guess is out. I read with John and [crossed out writing] Charles Francisco (who said he liked reading with me) and Tom somebody. I read fairly well I thought. Steve Brown told me he’d liked it + took down my number again + Jack Donaldson’s. But of course who knows. I’d like to do it of course but have a faintly doomed feeling about the Stage Society. We drove back to Price St. stopping at 2 card shops en route for Valentines. Nothing inspirational to be found. Bill from Dr. Richman-only $325.00 and a gloriously happy letter from Bill Wellborne. Who’s back at the Saint George-a great medley of good news-hard to make much out of but it was an ecstatic letter-with no mention of his return fare which of course is still due him. Stopped at Burlington + changed clothes-Jiggs all right. Peter decided not to feed him today as the second time we got up at noon there were two great heaps on the rug + he’s had diahrea (sp) all day. Took rug to be cleaned. Went to Timmy’s at 7:30-lovely dinner-veaux mystere. We talked about his invitation to Virgin Islands-He may go-Chris popped in + out-looking very presentable. After dinner watched H’wood Palace + then the first part of Oliver Twist-too tired to stay-Home at midnight. Let Jiggs out + watched the end-Brought home Timmy’s painting-Xmas gift.
