Slept long + heavily [crossed out writing]. Several calls which Peter took. One from Juarez Roberts-Sonya had recommended me for a job on Peyton Place. Didn’t work out. Nobody has heard of Jack Donaldson. They think I should change agents. Want to talk to me about it. Oh dear. Norma Grace called to check on dinner for Friday-fine. Peter fixed me a bromo which helped alot. I called Newcomb. He’s talked to Mother + knew I wasn’t coming-nice talk. He’s so good + so dear. Talked with Larry, Susan + Busy but not Anne-They were having a party when I called. So glad to have that off my mind. Must still write Jamie. We got Janie + left the house about 7:30. Stopped at Price Street-letter from Mother + letter from Izzy with check for $37.50 Whee. Also my W-2 form from Guild Bascom + Bonfigli + My god I made $1400 on that Wheat Chex-didn’t seem like it! Stuart + Phemy’s place-a tiny Cape Cod-like house-very attractive. Bernie + Kay Fein there-Gee what nice people + very funny-Phemy had made a really great dinner-ham + peas + sweet potato + salad + rolls-she’s a wonderful cook-we played Red Dog afterward + Bernie + Kay told some hysterical stories about their little boy Jeffrey. They left about midnight + Peter, Jane + I played on til almost 4 am. Silly but fun. Peter won, I lost + Jane was about 10 [cents] ahead. Came home + Janie asked to speak to me-went upstairs + it was about Jiggs-she’d made up her mind. She can’t take him back to New York + I agree it would be very hard on him-the alternative of having him put away was one she accepted + had decided on but she wanted to give us the chance to take him. I said I’d talk to Peter but I knew already that I wanted him-talked to Peter a long, long time + he agreed it isn’t the same as if Janie had done this 6 months ago-Jiggs was still a healthy dog then. But now he’s old + ailing and I think she’s right-He could never make the stairs on 45th Street-if he can live a few more months out here with us-that’s fine. Bed about 4:30-
