Still sick-up at 6:30-Peter woke Jane who’d overslept-she’s got all her things now in the front room + is going to live there in January. We drove out to the Airport + saw her off then ate a healthy breakfast. Went to Pacific Palisades + ofter a wait got the 50 books, 50 mailers + some other books (complete Pooh-new Margery sharp mouse book + a book by Conrad Aikens daughter.) Went by Elizabeth’s to pick up my skirt and she’s absolutely laid out with an awful cold-It’s really going the rounds. No word from G.A.C.-we kept checking. Went to Price St.-dear letter from Mother “your cold-ridden hag of a mother’ (she too!) + a note from Annie enclosing letter from Rita which said her French doctors said she could wait on a hysterectomy as long as she kept having checkups. Will write her tomorrow. We went to Food Giant + cashed check + bought great stocks of fish + soups etc. Back to Burlington-Peter had nice letter from Dal Forsythe + a bill-no more residuals for either of us-we had soup + then both lay down. Peter feeling worse than I today. I called the Coronet + left word for Clyde that we wouldn’t come tonight as we both felt lousy. I read a new (to me) John Le Carre mystery + finished an interesting mystery by the Gordons called Murder on the Campaign Trail-1952. Peter took suit to be altered. I mailed Jane’s check to bank, sent Jocelyn the 2nd check for the mailers + other purchases which I’d written + left in the check book + sent $10 to the Braille Institute for 2 gift books. Peter got a $2.00 parking ticket in the Palisades. Timmy called but we didn’t talk much. We sprayed the kitchen for flies + I washed up dishes + Peter made fish soup-Before dinner we read a couple of Pooh stories + after we watched a little TV + Played Red Dog-I lost but it’s all for the checking acct so what difference-
