Another day of rain - Jack called in the morning told me to get over to Goldwyn studios - a bowling commercial - Maxine again. I’d been talking to Bill about Celia when the operator interrupted with “an emergency call.” Oh well. Peter drove me over. I didn’t really have anything terribly appropriate to wear at 611 - Peter drove me over - Went very quickly - in + out. Had meant to go to unemployment but didn’t. Went to Price St - Had a nice note from Bud [Yorken] acknowledging the book + saying he hoped to see me “in the near future.” We (Peter + I) went to Tiny Naylor’s on Wilshire for lunch. Then started shopping for a black dress. Nothing there - next stop I. Magnin’s. Peter waited in the car. Very nice saleslady. Saw one dress at $230.00 Thank God it didn’t fit. Went into (+ out of immediately) a place called Beek’s. Was just about ready to go home when I decided to try Robinsons. Peter an absolute Saint about waiting for me + carting me around from store to store. Robinsons had far and away the biggest selection. I tried on at least 15 dresses. Finally found a very simple dress with a flared bottomed skirt. Cost only $29.00 Which is getting off pretty easily. Back to Burlington. I started to read Powers of Attorney. Peter had just finished it. We went up to the Safeway. Peter cashed a check + bought fish + goodies for his soup. I got alot of fresh fruit - had a sudden yen we went home + I made a fruit compote + Peter made Bouillabaisse + we had a salad. Lovely dinner. Janie came in later + we played Tangle + then cards.
