More rain. - up about 9:00 - Exercises. They’re getting easier and my legs aren’t aching any longer. Futzed about the house. Washed my hair. Called Bill to say I couldn’t go out with him to David’s. Paid Mary $10 to clean my office from top to bottom. Whee! Dressed up + went out - planned to go to unemployment but didn’t make it - just as well as it turned out because it was closed. Went shopping for a black dress. Went to the Broadway + every shop on that side of the street for five blocks - no luck. My inner vision may be cramping my style. But not a celia dress to be found. At 2:10 drove out to Otsego. Bill rehearsing Boo + David - I sat in the kitchen + wrote out my second scene or some of it. Finally got to rehearse around 4 o’clock. Wasn’t terribly happy with it although Bill was an enormous help. David sees Celia as a sort of minor saint which indeed she may be but I don’t think she’s devoid of edges or even moments of bitchiness. It’s a problem. Also Bob is going so far at this moment with Edward’s weakness that it seems impossible to believe Celia would have ever been fooled. Oh well. At 6:30 left + came home. I’d gotten one new dress (not black but a wild blue wool) + modeled it for Peter. Looked at my office which is just great - Peter hooked up the telephone + we went off to Timmy’s - stopped at Shermart for a bottle of Bourbon. Peter had an interview today for a series - We had good time at Timmy’s. Watched a CBS World Report on Red China - it’s a problem - Don’t see how we can go on pretending it’s not there. After that no more TV - Yay, Heavenly (”ovenly fresh”) dinner - Pot roast. All ate too much. Discussed the “Brooke agency” - things seem to be looking up - Knock on wood. for our Tim. Left about 11:15came home + Peter cued me. Read more Henderson.
