Metrecal dinner + drinks
Up around 9-pottered about. Peter gave me a check for $30.75 which evens us out for San Diego, the rent, the painting, etc. All very high finance-sent it + residual to bank. Peter spent the morning paying bill-He’s all paid up + has $470 in the bank. He owes Hutchnecker $900 but is going to write him that that is the extent of his obligation. Ruth Green is of course still the great debt. I had a long talk with Joan Korda-gee I liked her-about Timmy. Called Mary-spoke with David to say I’d be late. Got all dressed up in my brown suit + Peter drove me out to the Encino Community Center to rehearsal. David Lewis + George Stewart there=We went through the office scene first-about two times then Bob Brubaker who plays Edward came + we went through our scene twice. I used up a packet of Kleenex. I have alot of work to do but I think I’m going to be very good. (Knock wood) A funny lady there name Zelna Zee (”my friends call me Zee-Zee”) who read Julia for Hope Somers who’s on location-Tom Allyn (?) playing Peter Quelpi Judy Cosgrove playing Lavinia. Peter came to get me at 5 and watched one scene. I’m going to have to watch production + also lightness-temptation to play it all a little dark. Presents from Izzy-writing paper for me + a paper knife for Peter + a troll. Frank Silvera is thinking seriously of changing the cast with the exception of Bea for New York. The cast call him Jesus Christ. Oh dear. Got to Mandeville at 5:50-Had a drink + then a delicious dinner. I had planned to have metrecal but instead had salad + meat. My real sin was drinking. Wine + then later brandy. Fred + Leslie came over to show slides-some of the party very good-we really had a nice time. Then Allen went to bed + we all had another brandy + after Leslie + Fred left Peter, Mary + I went on drinking. On the way home stopped at Frank Overton’s-they were asleep + he’s shooting in the morning so we left-stopped at Price St.-Home + Bromo seltzer
