“Take what you want” said the Lord “and pay for it.” Old Spanish proverb-today we paid-both quite ill. Didn’t get up for some time. Finally about one. I tidied up the dishes. Judy Briggs called + told me to go to Columbia-Gower tomorrow at 11:15 and look “pert” when I pressed on details she suggested a hat maybe or something funny more she didn’t know herself. I asked her if she ever got scripts for dramatic shows + she said yes-I told her I was unhappy about “Slattery’s People”-it all ended up with my asking her over this evening for a beer at about 9:30 (she had a cocktail party to go to first.) Jack Donaldson called a little later and said he’d had a lovely time (!) in Santa Barbara + suggested that Peter look into a film being done at Producers Studio by Herman Cohen. Very nice of him. Also he’d gotten two clients jobs up in Santa Barbara in “Arsenic + Old Lace.” Peter spent the afternoon taking up the linoleum in the kitchen. Mary + Bill stopped by for coffee. Peter went out + bought ice cream cones. Jess Luber called from G.A.C. and lo + behold Peter has a job on the Joey Bishop show starting [crossed out writing] Tuesday-3 days at $750.00 Well of course he couldn’t turn it down but that means he’ll have to come two days after me to Ouray. We went up to Price Street. Food Giant. Cashed checks + bought cold-cut type things for this evening. Back to the house. Called Western Airlines + made reservations-mine for Thursday + the exact same flights for Peter on Saturday. Bathed + showered. No mail. Back to Burlington + tidied up. I got together my scrapbook and fixed it up some to show Judy. Also the pictures from the slide film. She arrived at 9:30 with a giant German Shepherd name Shayne whom she’d left in the car but we made her bring in. It was a very pleasant evening-later than we’d meant but still alot got said-casually + at times by indirection and at moments straight out. Gave her a copy of my book. Talked about parts and agenting and the sort of things I want to do and can do etc. Also listened to fascinating stories of how Judy got into this end of the business-she used to be an entertainer. Showed her the apartment upstairs + she was quite interested-if she can find someone to share will take it. Judy left about one and we went back to Price St. Early wake up call.
