Lost-lost-up about 5-to get ice pack-not only a ghastly headache but the cramps were back in force. Read a mystery story and tried to move without jarring myself. Despair, Helped some by coffee. Peter good to me + solicitous. Fireworks in MacArthur Park. Visible from the kitchen. Mary Parker came down to watch while [crossed out writing] Peter worked on the countertops very intricate work + he had to make stencils etc. Mary’s cat Mark terrified by the fireworks. But inspite of the noise from where we sat it was a rather feeble display. The only thing I did at all today was put all my things in my new box with drawers. And that took every last ounce of energy. Peter got as far as he could with the formica by one am-he needs more banding or whatever it is and some rubber backing before it’s finished. We called Margery Collingwood + Jane + we’ll go out there tomorrow about 10:30 for the sale. My stomach feels a little better now but still very very sore.
