Got a little more done today than recently about desk etc. Peter cleaned the house. The vitamins + yeast + cron may help. Drank metrecal for lunch. Check came from Schnikzer Agency for $179 + something-had just made out commission ($21) for Jack Donaldson when he called + told me-surprise of all surprises that I have a call back from the Folgers Coffee on Friday at 3 o’clock-”semi-finals”-you coulda knocked me over with a-blah blah. Also said he wanted me + Dick to come in + sign our contracts. Called Dick but couldn’t get him. Called Maxine Anderson’s office to find out which wife I was called back for and it’s the older one-She told me my only difficulty was that I “fall just in between-age-wise” Said it depended how they planned to go with the younger couple. But I was “such a good actress”-blah blah. Strange are the ways. Peter went to the bank + deposited my check in my checking account + another $110.00 from Lyle (made out to “Patsy Cleveland-bad loan payment”.) went into our savings which is now almost $600.00! We left the house about 3:30-went to the stamp store to buy more corner blocks and ended up not only buying corner blocks but a whole album of U.S. stamps and United Nations-for $60.00-total purchase was $79.00 which I considered Daddy’s birthday present. Such fun. Next stop Jack Donaldson’s to sign contracts-they need more pictures of me. Judy said she thought the Wheat Chex was going to make alot of money. Also I may have an appointment tomorrow. Pleasant interlude-then we went to the camera shop to leave off some film-next stop Burlington Street-our house-terrible mess. Rod in the middle of packing. Not there. Looked around + came home. Went over our stamp purchases. Really quite stunning. Richard called told him about contracts-he’s very upset-doesn’t want to sign. Had another call from New York about “Yum Yum Tree”-Jack Donaldson had told him last night that Maxine Anderson had told him that Richard was too “faggy” for the Wheat Chex commercial. Oh dear + Dick hadn’t even met her. Explained who she was + that made him feel better as there’d been some clowning around with Bobby Frye + Mike Keith in the hall that could have gone covered it. Dick went on to say that he’d never gotten anything through any agent-blah blah-the old cry-But I don’t think he sees the situation here clearly. Peter + I went out for Chinese dinner + came back to find Dick here watching “Once upon a Mattress” Good show. Played cards after. He brought Peter script of Erdman Play-
