Woke more dead than alive-a million unknown muscles protesting. Peter had not sooner left than the phone rang and it was Estelle to say the carpet people had gotten out there early and found no one to meet them. (They were supposed to arrive at 10 and Peter left at 9:30) Oh well. Straightened up the house a little. Wrote Diary-Paid Equity bill Called Richard. Quinn arrived at 11 prompt then Richard, then Jeanne Arnold. Bobo on location so couldn’t come Quinn had scripts for presentation film ready and played us a theme song on his tape recorder. Delightful. Shooting date June 20th + 21st Rehearsal June 6th. Costumes by then: Quinn wants to meet Panos. We liked Jeanne Arnold + think she’ll be good Psyche. Maybe it will be fun..(Don’t Hope) He’s got all the technical people lined up. Meeting broke up at 12:30-Dick drove me to unemployment-waited in line almost an hour but left triumphant clutching my $55.00.. Saw Brick there and Billy Holm’s. The office staff is very nice. Drove out to Estelle’s. The Carpet People were there. Peter had been under house to disconnect electricity + remove great floor outlet then reconnect. Carpet turned out to be wrong size + they left at 4:30 after putting down foam rubber matting. I painted-worked on the louver shutters for the desk for 7 1/2 hours straight, 8 of them-finished at midnight. Meantime Mr. Shikany’s sister + group came to take the refrig + the stove + everything else within sight we were afraid they shouldn’t but didn’t know what to do. Estelle + Marjorie came tripping up the walk as they were leaving and it was all right. They brought us beer + sandwiches + the dog for excitement. Dick went out to get more lumber + more shutters + Peter went to check with the service (the phone was cut off in the early afternoon). Marjorie went to get cleaning things + Estelle tidied up and I painted shutters. They left about nine and we knocked off at 12-called Jack Donaldson + it developed I have 10:00 appointment tomorrow morning for a Wheat Chex commercial. Came home a little depressed by size of job + general joylessness that the money has introduced-Estelle has insisted on paying and in all honesty nobody in the world could pay me enough to paint louvers + pull tacks-oh well. Dick + Peter got the doors to the kitchen hung. No relaxacisor
