About Haystack

Haystack is a portal to digital materials available at Colby-Sawyer College.  These materials include photographs, historical diaries, correspondence, yearbooks, and other historical records. The site is part of the Cleveland Colby Colgate Archives and helps to support the Susan C. Cleveland Library/Learning Center in its efforts to stimulate teaching and learning by providing access to research materials relating to the study of New Hampshire and the history of Colby- Sawyer College.

Haystack is funded through a generous donation from the Cleveland family.  The Cleveland family has been pivotal in the ongoing work in the Cleveland Colby Colgate Archives and encouraging the college to expand opportunities for use of the collection.  The website is a result of our shared desire to increase access to the collection.  Funds provided by the Cleveland Archives allowed Colby-Sawyer College to purchase some of the hardware and software needed to create and maintain Haystack.  The college would like to express its gratitude for the continued support of the Cleveland family.

  1. The photo that you show on the Haystack website labeled Colby Cleveland Woeltz is actually a picture of Patience Cleveland and not Colby.

  2. Noted and updated. Thanks.

Thank you for that info - correction. In putting together my own little Woeltz book, I could not find pictures that really matched the young face here. I have none of my aunt in her younger years, so was searching for one when I came up with this site.
